Why ecommerce SEO is different

Thousands of pages. A handful that sell.

Scale creates the problem

Variants, filters, tags, and search pages generate thousands of URLs. Crawl budget and canonicalization decide what Google ever sees.

Category pages are the money

They match commercial intent better than any blog post, and most stores leave them thin, templated, and unranked.

Product pages compete with resellers

The same product, the same manufacturer copy, on twenty sites. Differentiation is a structural problem, not a writing one.

Seasonality and stock churn

Out-of-stock and discontinued products need a deliberate policy, or you leak authority every season.

Structured data pays directly

Price, availability, and review markup drive rich results and comparison surfaces that plain listings never reach.

AI search changes discovery

Assistants now answer shopping questions with one recommendation. Catalogs they can't read aren't in the answer.

What we help with

Outcomes first. Rankings follow.

01

Technical SEO

Crawlability, indexation, canonical strategy, and structured data — fixed in the code rather than filed as a recommendation.

02

Architecture & internal linking

Category structures and links designed so authority flows to the pages that actually sell.

03

Content strategy

Category copy, buying guides, and editorial mapped to search demand and margin, not volume alone.

04

AI search optimization

Entity clarity, catalog legibility, and citable content so assistants recommend you by name.

Platforms

Every platform hides its own problems.

Shopify & Plus

Locked URL patterns, collection duplication, and app bloat. Our deepest expertise — and where we also build.

Magento

Powerful but heavy: layered navigation, faceted URLs, and performance debt that hurts both crawl and conversion.

WooCommerce

Plugin-generated URLs, thin archive pages, and hosting limits that surface as speed problems at scale.

BigCommerce

Clean fundamentals, but filter and category handling still needs deliberate crawl control.

What's included

Everything organic growth actually requires.

Scoped to your platform, catalog, and category — and usually paired with conversion optimization, speed work, or development.

FAQ

Deciding questions, straight answers.

How is ecommerce SEO different from regular SEO?

Scale and intent. A content site optimizes dozens of pages; a store has thousands generated by variants, filters, and tags — so architecture, canonicalization, and crawl control matter more than any individual page. And the pages that make money are category and product pages, which most general SEO advice barely addresses.

Which platforms do you work with?

Most of our clients are on Shopify and Shopify Plus, and that's where our development team is strongest. We also work with brands on Magento, WooCommerce, and BigCommerce — often while planning a move to Shopify.

How long until SEO shows results?

Technical fixes often move numbers within weeks; content and authority compound over one to two quarters. We sequence quick wins first so the engagement pays for itself while the long-term work builds.

We already run paid ads. Why invest in SEO?

Paid traffic stops the day you stop paying. Organic compounds — and it converts better, because intent is higher. Most of our clients run both; SEO steadily lowers the blended acquisition cost.

Do you implement, or just recommend?

We implement. Theme code, schema, metadata, content — our developers ship the fixes directly, so recommendations never die in a backlog.

How do you report on results?

Against organic revenue and non-brand traffic, not rankings alone. Monthly, in plain language: what shipped, what moved, and what's next.
